Purbeck Dorset

Saturday 8th April, 2006.

Wareham's new street market opened at The Quay, Wareham today. The new market proved to be an instant success with every covered pitch being taken. At 9 am this morning, the market was bustling with customers. Osbornes office is located only a short distance from the Quay and our window display of properties has been attracting the attention of numerous passers by.

Focus on Wareham (No 173) produced by the Liberal Democrats has an article on Housing in Purbeck as follows:

NON EXISTENT THREAT

Figures just released will allay local resident's fears that government appointed planning inspectors are overturning Purbeck planner's decisions. Of the 38 appeals lodged against refusal of planning permission in 2005/6 only 8 (21%) were allowed reports Purbeck Planning Board member Cllr David Budd. This compares with 21.6% in 2004/5. It has always been the democratic right of an applicant to appeal against a refusal of planning permission.

Regional planners have supported Purbeck planner's proposal that only 105 additional homes per year should be built in Purbeck between now and 2026. An average of 136 per year has been built since 1994.
